Book Review - Teardrop by Lauren Kate

Never, Ever Cry …

As I loved the Fallen series by Lauren Kate, I knew I had to get this because if Fallen was any indication to Lauren Kate’s ability to write an awesome book – Teardrop had to be just as good if not better.
And it was just as good, if not better. This is the first book I’ve read which has been a retold version of the Atlantis Myth, obviously I wasn’t expecting it to be exactly the same, what’s the point in that? So I was pretty excited about seeing what she could do with it. Granted I don’t know all that much about Atlantis, but sure lol.

The first thing that drew me in was the cover – I thought it was beautiful and it captured me immediately. I also loved the one line blurb, even though there is a description on the inside sleeve, but, like I said with Awaken, it just draws me in and make me so interested in finding out what it means and what’s going to happen.
The overall plot of the story was really good. I honestly didn’t expect that to be the story which made it an even better read – she really made it interesting and added quite a bit of mystery to the story as well and along with the characters she created, it made it a really good read.
Eureka and Ander are the main characters – Eureka is kind of closed off – she doesn’t like to let people get too close to her after what happened with her mother, but she is also smart, funny and strong and will do what it takes to protect the ones she loves. Ander is mysterious, strong and really interesting. He doesn’t reveal too much of himself and that just makes you want to get to know him more or get him to talk more – which made the story quite fun in a way – a wee bit of mystery never done any harm.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to see what happens in Waterfall, the next instalment of the series :)

Book Review - Awaken (Abandon Trilogy #3) by Meg Cabot

A storm is coming.

I must say, I love when books have these one lines for blurbs - not only does it make me desperate to read the book - it adds a certain spice to a book, not knowing what's going to happen so you don't have the luxury of guessing or anticipating what way it will end.
It does have the blurb on the inside of the cover though - but Im not going to tell you it.. *evil laugh*

This book for me was like a clock in the sense that - something big was happening and throughout each chapter it was counting down and the apprehension was growing - which I loved! It made me so interested in finding out what was going to happen.
The plot in this book, it based around the furies - they know John broke the rules, twice, but no one knows when or how they're going to strike - it was at a really good pace, it didn't drag but it wasn't over within the first three chapters. All of the characters are back also which is awesome - Pierce and John are working through their relationship which adds a bit of romance to the story, there is also some humour and some moments of anticipation which really keeps you intrigued and turing the pages.

I also loved the cover of the book. This is the first cover were you can see some resemblence as to what John looks like, obviously you have a picture in your head but it's always nice to have a picture to refer too, and a face to put name too.

I can't think of anything negative to say about this book.... Overall it was a really good read which I recommend :)

Review - Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer

The first time I ever seen this product was when I my sister bought it a few years ago and I absoloutely loved it. I use to use it on her all the time, which she didn't appreciate but sure, haha. I've wanted my own ever since then and it has taken me this long to eventually buy it, shame on me.
What I like...
1. The Packaging - the packaging is really simple, and easy to use/open. It's not incredibly big so I would be able to take it with me in my bag which I really like. I also love the fact that the bronzer looks like chocolate, it really adds to the product and was one of the first things I loved about it.
2. The Product - It smells devine, it looks awesome and is a wonderful colour on my skin, the payoff is also really nice, a little goes a long way and its also very easy to blend.
3. The Price - it's not extremely dear for a drugstore brand but it is up there with the likes of L'Oreal etc etc, but it is definately worth the money in my opinion. It's £8.99 from Superdrug.

What I Dislike...
I don't dislike anything! I love this product and it is definately my favourite bronzer.

:)

Small Haul

I recently decided to treat myself to a few new goodies as I haven't really had the money to spend but as my holiday etc. is all paid off, I thought why not :)

The first things I got are from Tescos. As I'm going back to college I decided to get a few bits just to start the new year off with some new goodies. The first is a Diary for 2014/2015. I wanted a new diary for a while but when I seen this I just had to get it. It's not overly big, its about an A5 size maybe just a tad bigger and it's also quite thin which I love - this was on sale for only £2.50. The next thing is a note pad with dividers. I love these kinds of notepads especially in my subject there are a lot of different units so it really comes in handy, this was also only £2.50. I then decided to get a pencil case and when I seen this owl one, I literally ran for it, its so adorable I couldnt put it down - this was £4.00. And lastly I decided to get the very well known book, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green - so many people have talked and raved about this book and the film and as it was only £3.85 - I had to get it.

I then went to Superdrug and picked up a few items. Firstly I got three Bourjois products as they were on a 3 for 2. I got the Chocolate Bronzer in the shade 52, I got the Healthy Mix concealer in the shade 51 and a Lipstick from the Rouge Edition range in the number 02. I'm so excited to try these prodcuts out and I'm going to do a review on all these also.
I then got the Fit Me foundation in the shade 120 and the Dream Lumi Touch concealer in the shade 01 by Maybelline - I love this foundation, it was a past favourite of mine before I started to use the Bourjois Happy Light foundation - so I thought i would go back to an old fav.
Lastly I got a blusher from Topshop - this is a powder blush and is in the shade Good Girl which is a really beautiful baby pink colour.

Lastly I had to get new wax as I had ran of my other one - this time I decided to get a cream wax rather than the honey as I personally prefer it - and I got it in Fruit Smootie as it's a really pretty pink colour and it smells delicious.

I'm Going on Holiday! :D

As you can probably tell by the title, I'm pretty excited about this! I have never been on holiday before, I've never been on a plane, I've never been on a boat and I've never left Northern Ireland.. some of you may just gasp with shock and others may faint - perfectly fair reactions if I do say so myself - even I'm shocked at this realisation as I type it haha.

My boyfriend has had this crazy idea ever since we we started going out that he wanted to get all of my firsts - understandable I guess as I haven't done, seen or a lot of things and I've never been out of the country, so I get it. But he decided that after been going out for three years, it's time to take me on my first ever holiday! Hazay.
I am so excited. His first destination idea was Turkey, but as that's four hours away and this being my first time flying - I figured that just might not be a good idea, so we're jetting off to good ole Espana!  I've always loved the novelty of the Spanish culture, and from studying Spanish in school I at least know a few phrases so all will be well.
The only bad part though is that we won't be jetting off until the end of August :( I've literally been spending alll of my money for clothes and the like so I doubt the next pay I get will be saved for then... it's hard being a girl.

I will do another post of the clothes etc. that I will be bringing with me and also the essentials I'll be bringing :)

Nail Polishes for Summer

Throughout this summer I've really been loving wearing pastel shades on my nails - I don't know why, I just prefer them over the ott bright shades but in saying that - I have worn one particular bright shade which I just love!
I've also loved experimenting with nail art over the summer as well - ust because it really adds to a look especially if it's to match an outfit your wearing or to just jazz up an outfit and to add something unique to the look :)

The first two polishes are from the brand misssporty and I believe they're part of their summer collection - they're really lovely colours and are also pastel shades unfortunetly though they don't have any names.

The next polish is from Collection and from their Hot Looks 60 second range and it's in the shade candyfloss  which is a really nice pastel pink - I don't know wear this one very often as it does tend to go quite gloopy really fast, but it is very nice

The next polish is from Barry M and the Gelly range. I absoloutely love colour - it's the one I have been reaching for the most especially when I'm tan because it looks lovely. It's in the shade rosehip and is a lovely pale pink

This next polish I also love and have worn it quite a lot - its from NYC and is in the shade Blue Sky. It's a really nice pastel blue and is the nicest pastel blue that I have been able to find in the drugstore.

Again this polish from Collection and it's from the Work the Colour range. I love this colour - I do have an e.l.f. lilac shade but its not very opaque and I would have to do about three layers to get a really nice intensity but with this polish the intensity is really nice even with one coat. It's in the shade Lilac Daze

The last polish is from e.l.f and is a really nice nude which I would use quite a lot as a base for doing nail art because I think it helps to add to the intensity of it. I do also wear this on it's own with no nail art and it still looks very nice. It's in the shade Desert Haze

The bright shade I have been loving throughout the summer is from Rimmel and their Lasting Finish range in the shade 504 It's a Scorcher. I love this colour - it's a really bright orange with a slight shimmer to it and it looks so lovely with and without tan - which is definately a bonus.

Below are just some pictures of the nail art I have been loving throughout the summer also

The Jelly Sandals

I bet that literally every girl and maybe boy, had a pair of these when they were younger! Everyone remembers the wee pair of glittery clear or pink jelly sandals back in the day - and for Summer 2014 - they're making a huge comback!

I had a pair of these when I was younger and I loved them, and it's no different now - I first seen these in Primark about 2 months ago and knew I had to get a pair - but when I eventually got paid a few weeks ago - they were all sold out *sad face* But not to fear, Shoe Zone in my local Mall had loads so I had definately lucked out and purchased a pair for only £9.99! Bargain!

I literally haven't had them off my feet since I bought them, I am in love! They're definately my Summer staple shoes :)
